Positive Futures Priorities 2017

Positive Futures ten key priorities for 2017/18 have been outlined to map out a positive future for the young people in North Liverpool.

Everyone Deserves a Chance

We believe that everyone deserve a chance and our priorities for 2017 have been chosen to address the needs of the young people living in Liverpool.

The key issues issues affecting the City, and the individuals we worked with last year, have informed our decision to focus on these ten areas of priority. We see our priorities as a promise to our young people to offer them the best support that we can, and to deal with the issues they have highlighted.

We pledge to deliver these priorities through engagement and education to build positive futures for the young people we are working with, to create meaningful change both to individuals and to the Community as a whole.  With one in three young people experiencing mental health concerns in their teens, we are building our support for young people in need of professional support offering 1-2-1 engagement, group support and creating effective referral systems for an all-round support package.

Substance misuse remains a challenge for all our Intervention and Prevention Projects with a significate rise in the use of so called “Legal Highs” creating a new level of engagement needed to educate the young people on the dangers and consequences of drug use.

Another area of concern for Positive Futures in 2017 will be to support those young people who are at risk of being criminally or sexually exploited. Recent government reports have highlighted the need for long term engagement support and prevention programmes with young people from disadvantaged communities being exploited by criminal gangs. We will be engaging with young people this year in prevention and education projects as well as supporting those who have been effected by exploitation through 1:1, group support and our street engagement.

The Priorities for 2017 are being implemented by our growing Positive Futures team, with four new staff members already in place and further recruitment planned over the next few months.  The future is looking bright for our charity, and for our young people.

Clare Corran, Positive Futures CEO:

“I am extremely proud to lead such a skilled and dedicated team at Positive Futures, and together we look forward to building on our year on year success. We seek to build skills and capability so that are young people are equipped to create the future they want and deserve.”
