Positive Futures a Liverpool based youth development charity, ran their annual 6 week Positive Presents campaign again last year. This campaign calls on people to donate gifts for disadvantaged children located in the North Liverpool area, in order to ensure that every young person has something to open up on Christmas Day.
This year, Positive Futures were overwhelmed with the generosity of the local community, with them receiving a full room of donations. These were made up of everything from bikes to bath bombs. The community truly came together to make sure nobody went without during the festive season.
“We were astounded by the generosity of everybody who donated,” commented Positive Futures’ CEO Clare Corran, “we know we work in a very kind area, but we could never have predicted the number of gifts we received. It’s wonderful to know that far fewer young people went without this Christmas as a result of these donations.”
Positive Futures strive to support young people through a combination of open access, detached, school based and targeted support services. Last year alone they delivered 403 Open Access Sessions and 588 targeted support sessions. Of those that took part in these one-to-one sessions, two thirds moved from above clinical thresholds to below and 35% saw meaningful progress.
