Young People Have A Summer To Remember With Positive Futures

Providing support, guidance and opportunities for children and young people aged 8 to 24 is what Positive Futures always aims to do and the summer holiday club took this to the next level.

From the Tuesday 30th July to Thursday 29th August, Positive Futures hosted a wide array of Summer Holiday Club events for young people in the North Liverpool area. These included trips and opportunities to gain education, as well as some qualifications. Our Summer Holiday Club ran alongside our regular variety of weekly activities, which include the likes of open access sessions, drop ins and volunteer meetings. Events included us joining the Real Men Don’t Carry Knives tournament which was a huge success. The event itself  was a bit of a surprise for the attendees, who were only expecting a 2 day football tournament. But alongside this, they also received talks from medical professionals and the chance to practice potentially life-saving techniques. We also ran a 6 week kayaking course for young people every Wednesday. Along with gaining a kayaking qualification, 55 young people completed a heart start qualification providing them with invaluable first aid skills. But we didn’t stop there, we also organised several trips out to the likes of the Welsh Mountain Zoo, Splash World not to mention trips to New Brighton and local parks. With 159 participants and 300 volunteer hours put in by our amazing volunteers, young people from a variety of backgrounds had a summer to remember.
