In the run-up to Christmas, Positive Futures held a whole host of events for young people and their families. Each of them, in their own unique ways, succeeded in bringing the community closer together -with the likes of trips to the theatre, to go-karting. 28 participants from Positive Futures went for celebratory meals out, 75 were taken to the theatre, and the annual Christmas party saw a whopping turnout of 80 young people aged between 8 and 24 attending!
Positive Futures took a mix of young people and volunteers to see Scouse Snow White at the Royal Court, they all had a great time, and enjoyed the super scouse jokes! This was the 3rd year that Positive Futures have taken their participants to see a panto and, as always, it went down a storm! They also took a group of young people and their families to see the less scouse, not no less wonderful, Snow White at the M&S Bank Arena. They all had a fantastic time and the families were thrilled to be able to go to the event as a whole family unit. As well as this, 20 young people were taken to see Miracle on 34th Street at the Everyman Theatre. One young person said it “Got us all into the Christmassy vibe.”
But the excitement didn’t stop there, Positive Futures took ten young people for a group Christmas meal at Crust on Bold Street, with another group, their volunteers, being treated to a thank you meal out at Bon Pan, an all you can eat Chinese buffet. To top off the celebrations, Positive Futures received some truly heart-warming texts from their volunteers over the holiday period thanking them for everything they’ve done for them over the year!
As the month progressed, Positive Futures wanted to make it a Christmas to remember, so arranged an extra trip go-karting, which had proved a favourite of some of our young people last year. For those who didn’t fancy go-karting, they got to enjoy a less adrenaline-fuelled evening at Hollywood Bowl.
The icing on the Christmas cake was the annual Christmas party, with 80 attendees who were made-up young people and their families. There was a disco, party games; and the Grinch and his elves even made an appearance! Delicious food was provided and there was a wonderful community atmosphere generated by the festivities. Everyone had a fantastic time and every child went home with a Grinch selection box!
This busy festive calendar of activities ran alongside Positive Future’s regular sessions, which includes the likes of football, crafts, cookery and card games. Their open access sessions are available to young people of different age brackets and interests. To find out more, visit their website.
