Liverpool Youth Charity Begin Drama Workshops In Collaboration With LIPA

Liverpool based youth development charity Positive Futures, are holding drama workshops in collaboration with the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). Drama students from LIPA are delivering the sessions with support from Positive Futures’ Youth Development Worker Katie Foster.

The workshops, which launched on the 15th January 2020, are open to any young people aged 8-24. They aim to provide young people with a new skill set, as well as providing a safe space to pursue a new interest with the support of Positive Futures’ staff.

The overarching aim is to use the workshops to put on a large community show, which encompasses a wide range of age groups  and as many attendees as possible.

Talking of the new partnership, CEO Clare Corran commented;

“We are always looking for opportunities to partner with local organisations as we understand how important collaboration is when it comes to helping to change the lives of our local young people. This is the latest of many such collaborations and we could not be happier.

“Not only do our young people get the opportunity to try something new during their time at Positive Futures, but the LIPA students also benefit from this experience, hopefully helping their personal and professional development.

“I say to everyone to come along and give it a go. No matter your age, gender or ability, come along and try something new.”

The free workshops are taking place every Wednesday from 5pm-6pm at Positive Futures on Tetlow Way, Liverpool, all young people aged 8 – 24 are invited to go along and get involved.

It is hoped that this collaboration will not only foster an interest in drama, and entertain a wide range of young people, but it will also encourage LIPA students to take part in community action after the experience of coaching young people from beginner to performer.

You can find out more or register your interest in the workshops by contacting Katie Foster on katie@positivefutures.co.uk or call Positive Futures on 0151 207 6003.
